Affordable Adorable

It's autumn in OurTown, and last weekend, MamaJae came over to give my house a mini-makeover - you know, with pumpkins and such.

Let's get something straight. MamaJae is a decorating guru. She likes to joke that she has "a Masters Degree in HGTV" (good one, mom)... As much as we make fun of her for her cheesy jokes, she does have an eye for exceptional design.

This year, I've been loving lanterns. They're everywhere, so inspiration wasn't hard to come by.

I had purchased some black lanterns from Ikea last spring (so reasonably priced!), and they were item numero uno in our mini-makeover.

Using some pine cones I collected from the pine trees at our family lake home,

and some green grosgrain ribbon,

we created a fun pine cone-filled lantern.
